I have problems using Firefox. Does WhereverTV support FireFox? 2017-09-06T12:49:12+00:00

Yes, WhereverTV does support Firefox – as long as you have the latest Windows Media Plug-in for Firefox installed. If you do not have it, you can download it at:

http://port25.technet.com/pages/windows-media-player-firefox-plugin-download.aspx

Once you have installed the plug-in, you will need to close all browser windows and then re-open Firefox. Without the plug-in, Firefox users will experience errors browsing our site.

If that does not work, check your version of Firefox. At present, we do not support Firefox 4.0.1. In order to watch live television on WhereverTV, you will need to downgrade to the last known stable version of Firefox, version 3.6.17. To download 3.6.17 and uninstall 4.0.1, please visit: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

What type of Internet connection do I need to enjoy WhereverTV? 2017-03-27T16:53:55+00:00

The short answer is: the faster your connection, the better your experience will be at WhereverTV. Some sort of broadband connection is definitely recommended, since most of the channels require 300-800kb/sec to stream across the Internet onto your computer. ADSL connections, especially in countries like China will most likely not provide you with enough bandwidth to watch some of the higher quality channels. To check the speed of your Internet connection, run a free bandwidth speed test at: http://www.speedtest.net/

The video takes too long to load, what can I do? 2017-03-27T16:53:25+00:00

WhereverTV does not stream any videos from its servers. So, the speed at which a video loads is entirely dependent on a) your Internet connection; b) the country from which you are accessing the Internet; and c) the country the channel you are attempting to load is located. In some cases (such as accessing Chinese TV stations from outside of China), government filters and in-country bandwidth limitations could cause serious delays in the loading and/or viewing of a specific channel. You can either try to stop and then play the channel again from the media player or you might want to try accessing the channel at a later time.

The video “freezes” or is “choppy”, what can I do? 2017-03-27T16:52:54+00:00

Similar to the question and answer above about video loading, WhereverTV does not stream any videos from its servers. So, the speed at which a video streams is entirely dependent on

  1. Your Internet connection
  2. The country from which you are accessing the Internet
  3. The country the channel you are attempting to load is located. In some cases (such as accessing Chinese TV stations from outside of China), government filters and in-country bandwidth limitations could cause serious delays in the loading and/or viewing of a specific channel. You can either try to stop and then play the channel again from the media player or you might want to try accessing the channel at a later time.
Is there a way to know the quality of a specific channel before I start watching it? 2017-03-27T16:52:21+00:00

Yes. The speed of each channel is listed on the summary pages for channels by country, genre, language, as well in search results. Just look for the column titled “Speed”. The higher the number, the better the channel quality. But the higher the speed, the better your Internet connection will need to be to stream the channel.

What web browsers work with WhereverTV? 2017-03-27T16:51:54+00:00

Currently, WhereverTV supports Internet Explorer 6.0 and 7.0, Chrome, and Firefox through version 3.6.17 (but not version 4.0.1). Firefox users must have the latest Windows Media Player Plug-in installed to enjoy WhereverTV. Once you have installed the plug-in, you will need to close all browser windows and then re-openFirefox. The Firefox plug-in can be downloaded at: http://port25.technet.com/pages/windows-media-player-firefox-plugin-download.aspx

Safari (Mac) users will need to download the latest version of Windows Media Player for Mac OS X at: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/windowsmediaplayerformacosx.html

I am trying to access a channel, but the video never starts to load, what is wrong? 2017-03-27T16:51:08+00:00

Some channels do not broadcast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – especially live events such as off-track betting, live newscasts, or political bodies (i.e. US House of Representatives or British Parliament). If a specific channel does not play, it is most likely off-the-air.

How do I add a channel to My TV Channels? 2017-03-27T16:50:34+00:00

Just click on the + button next to any channel. The + button can be found in the channel lists by country, genre, or language, or in the channel description box to the right of the media player.

I know of a channel you currently do not have listed, how can I add it to My Channels? 2017-08-30T02:47:02+00:00

Click on the “Recommend a Channel” link in the top header. Provide as much information about the channel as you can and click the “Submit” button. We will take a look at the channel and if it meets our content standards, we will add it into our channel listings.
